It's the Toku Round-Up, getting you bits and pieces of toku news you could use...when we remember to get to it.

:bulletorange: Shout Factory's Super Sentai Spectacular live streaming events continue with a Kakuranger marathon of the first 7 episodes on May 20th from 9am-1pm PT/12pm-5pm ET. You can watch the stream on www.shoutfactorytvlive.com and www.pluto.tv channel 512. You can also watch on mobile, tablets, and connected TV devices through the Pluto.tv app for your specific setup.

Instead of tokusatsu expert August Ragone hosting like the past marathons, there will be a "round table" of panelists including Brian Ward from Shout Factory, comedian Hana Michels, Erika Ishii from Geek and Sundry, and Shamus Kelley from Den of Geek US. If you can't catch the marathon, Shout Factory TV will have all Kakuranger episodes streaming on-demand after the marathon ends. (Source: The Tokusatsu Network)

:bulletorange: I'm a bit late on this, but since it's the holidays, some of you might need it! The Del Ray Network is having their third annual Kaiju Christmas with a boatload of Godzilla films! It's a weekend long marathon from Friday to Monday so you still have the 25th and the 26th to check it out! Check out the schedule here!

:bulletorange: The Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger toy lists are out and with that comes blurry pictures of the team's costumes! For the sake of those allergic to spoilers/unofficial info releases, you can check out the team at Orends: Range.

:bulletorange: Good news is that Ninja Steel has been confirmed to be the next Power Rangers season, mixed news is that Saban has extended their deal with Nickelodeon into 2018 and that they appear to be skipping ToQGer for adaptation. I guess they're just not that big on IM-AG-IN-AAAAATIOOOON. Though, this season does have an interesting twist, as the synopsis shows:

"Saban’s Power Rangers Ninja Steel starts deep in space, where Zircon is the reigning champion of the most popular intergalactic game show in the universe, and monsters battle to prove who is the mightiest warrior. Zircon is determined to become invincible by controlling the mythical Spirit Crystal, which contains six supernatural Ninja Power Throwing Stars. The only thing standing in his way is a new team of heroic teenage Power Rangers who possess the Spirit Crystal. The evil Zircon sends his warrior contestants down to Earth to steal the Crystal, where each epic battle against the Rangers is broadcast throughout the universe. Together, the Rangers must master their arsenal of Throwing Stars, Zords and Megazords, each made of legendary ninja steel, in order to stop this evil threat and save our planet from destruction."

(The Tokusatsu Network)

If they can make a post-apocalyptic tale out of Go-Onger, then this might not be too big a stretch of the IM-AG-IN-AAAAATIOOOON. May the odds ever in in your Ranger!

This is a shorter update for the others because there's a certain BIG Super Sentai thing coming up (non Zyuohger related) that I thought warranted its own post.

:bulletorange:  Here's the recent first preview of the next Super Sentai series, Zyuohger! You can see the translation for it at The Tokusatsu Network

:bulletorange: Shin Kanpai Senshi After V, the Super Sentai parody series focusing on the after-hours escapades of your typical multicolored spandex hero squad, featuring a load of past Kamen Rider cast members, has got a new season AND a movie crowdfunded. I guess if Akibaranger can't get their own movie, this will be the next best thing. Wonder if it'll be more than 30 minutes? Over-Time has been subbing After V, so if you wanna check it out, there ya go. Hope you like karaoke!
:bulletorange: We had previously mentioned Collider's coverage on Power Rangers moving to Netflix and skipping ToQGer, but thanks to Khandri giving us the heads up on Collider's unreliable reporting and the lack of official acknowledgement from Saban Brands on this rather unprecedented move, this is a BS rumor and we apologize for spreading it further. There's still hope for choo choo rangers, people! Wyote also brought up MMPRToys on YouTube receiving confirmation from Saban Brands that it is indeed a rumor (6:45 in the video), as Saban also linked MMPRToys to a Den Of Geek article where they state "there is no accuracy to the report that Power Rangers is moving exclusively to Netflix in 2017." Kudos to MMPRToys and Den of Geek for factchecking.
:bulletorange: Yoshi Sudarso, aka Koda for Power Rangers Dino Charge, has a cameo in next week's Ninninger! This is the first time a Power Rangers actor has ever appeared in Super Sentai!
:bulletorange: For those of you that haven't checked out the official English subbed shorts of Ultra Fight Victory on Tsuburaya's YouTube channel, you can see a compilation of the whole thing here.
:bulletorange: Check out our special San Diego Comic-Con post because there's been a LOT of big toku news from SDCC this year, including the official subbed release of Dairanger and the August return of Power Rangers Dino Charge!
:bulletorange: In celebration of Eiji Tsuburaya's birthday, Google made a celebratory Google Doodle where you can make your own mini tokusatsu film. It's harder than it looks, however! (Also, check out Ultraman Google!) You can still play with the Google Doogle here
:bulletorange: Speaking of Ultraman, on Ultraman Day (July 14th!) Ultraman X will debut as part of New Ultraman Retsuden!
:bulletorange: ToQGer 46 will be airing this Sunday. The finale will air on the 15h and Ninninger will premiere on the 22nd!
:bulletorange: Yoshi, the actor for Power Rangers: Dino Charge's Blue Ranger is a huge Super Sentai fan, so in honor of today's Dino Force TV premiere, we just had to show you this take on a shot from ToQger vs. Kyoryuger: The Movie he and the rest of the cast did. The more things change, the more they stay the same, eh?
:bulletorange: For those of you who haven't gotten to see it yet, the early web premiere for Power Rangers: Dino Charge is up, which has gotten a surprisingly positive reception from other PR fans. You can watch the episode here, though I'm assuming it's US only. The episode makes its television premiere on Saturday, February 7th at noon Eastern/11am Central.
:bulletorange: Studio TRIGGER is following up their Gridman short with Power Plant No. 33, a kaiju themed short. It's a collab with Studio Rikka, written by Yasuhiro Yoshiura, who previously did Patema Inverted. You can watch it here.
:bulletorange: ToQGer ep 46 is believed to be airing this week due to the delay caused by news reports about the unfortunate ISIS assassination of Kenji Goto. So, far, Ninninger's premiere hasn't changed.
:bulletorange: Kamen Rider celebrated its 40th birthday yesterday (April 4th) with the anniversary of the airing of the first episode of the OG Kamen Rider. Today (April 5th), it's Super Sentai's turn at the big 4-0 as it is the anniversary of the airing of the first episode of Goranger! 40 years is a lot of staying power!
:bulletorange: We were waiting to check that it wasn't an April Fool's joke, but due to the amount of reports still going on, we have reason to believe that this news is true! Indeed, Hideaki Anno, head honcho of the Neon Genesis Evangelion series and its respective Rebuild movies is helming Toho's next Godzilla film set to release in 2016! Filming will happen in the spring and summer. Anno as head director and writer will be joined by Gamera and the live action Attack on Titan's Shinji Higuchi as special effects director. Anno, as some of you familiar with him might know, is big on tokusatsu, especially Ultraman, which was actually influenced the original Evangelion series and got shoutouts in both the series and Rebuild. Anno and Higuchi worked together on the impressive "Giant God Warrior Appears In Tokyo" short film you can watch here

Thoughts on how Anno is going to handle it? Anno is one for taking things in dark and unexpected directions. The tokusatsu effects for the Attack on Titan shown so far look amazing, so they'd pull out all the stops for the new Godzilla!

:bulletorange: Lexington Comic Con released footage from their Zyuranger panel.

Video here

You can also check out some Mighty Morphin Power Rangers panels here.

:bulletorange: Speaking of Rangers, Power Rangers Dino Charge is on its mid-season finale, so we're gonna have to wait five or so months to finish off the season. How are you liking Dino Charge so far now that we've been through half the season already?

There once was a Sonic the Hedgehog convention in Texas that I wanted to attend, but I didn't go because it was out of town. There once was a theater that was playing the Equestria Girls movie and I wanted to see it on the big screen, but I didn't go because it was out of town. There have been TONS of things I wanted to attend in Texas, but I didn't because it was all happening outside of my local town. And now, not one but TWO Ultraman movies are about to play in select theaters, and they will dubbed as I had always dreamed of Tokusatsu being dubbed...

I think it's time I break tradition and plan a road trip for the nearest available theater in Texas playing these movies. GO ULTRAMAN! Get the success you deserve!
(But if I still can't make it, I'll find another way to support it. Maybe buy the DVD or watch the Crunchyroll episodes with Adblock disabled.)
